PORTABLE FIRE EQUIPMENT

There are many different types of fire extinguishers available and must be installed according to risk as per Australian Standards AS2444 – 2001. The type of extinguishers you have will determine the level of servicing that is required and relative cost.

FIRE HOSE AND REELS

Fire hose reels and fire hoses (also known as lay-flat hose) require a different annual service to their inspection which is reflected by the costs.  In the case of fire hoses, they must be tested every year by running water through them and having them fully pressurised. This satisfies two requirements. Firstly to test the hose will take the necessary pressure if used in an emergency and secondly wets the internal rubber lining which can stop splitting, and eventually, holes.

FIRE BLANKETS

While fire blankets are the easy to inspect, the blanket must still be removed from the case and checked for signs of use or contamination. Both could cause the blanket to catch fire if used and create more safety issues.

Are You Getting a Full report?

When an inspection of your essential services is complete, does your contractor supply you with a full report or are you only getting a summary?  Do you get a detailed document of the location, type and asset number of each piece of portable fire equipment on your site? Do you have your reports explained to you?

All DFEM essential service inspections and tests come with a report clearly showing you what has been inspected or tested and what is required to be done if there are any defects.  We can quote for extra work required so you don’t have any unexpected bills.

We can service and sell fire equipment for local CFA fire brigades, with proceeds going back into the local community at your request.
