Did you know, every commercial site is required to have a working evacuation plan (also known as an emergency plan or fire safety plan) complete with accurate evacuation diagrams?
An emergency plan is not only to be used to ensure your facility is compliant, but more importantly is to be implemented to keep your staff and visitors safe in the event of an emergency.
Australian Standards AS3745 – Planning for Emergencies in Facilities lays out exactly what is required to be considered and put in your plan.
Your evacuation plan should :
- consider every likely emergency you could face
- provide working, well thought out procedures to help with decision making
- define your warden structure and responsibilities
- be developed to comply with AS3745
- be reviewed periodically in term of AS3745 and AS1851-2012
- be tested, and
- have evacuations and lock downs practised periodically
